Product Overview
Metal particles generated during the operation of bearings, gears, and other components in transmission machinery can enter the return oil line along with the lubricating oil. By installing an online lubricant metal particle monitoring sensor in the return oil line, the system monitors the size, mass, and nature (ferromagnetic or non-ferromagnetic) of metal particles in the return oil line, as well as their accumulation trends. It records the monitoring data in real time and, through data analysis, determines the health status of the transmission equipment. This provides reliable early warning and service life estimation for mechanical equipment.
The online lubricant metal particle monitoring sensor primarily consists of a sensor, a signal conditioning module, and connecting cables. It involves knowledge from multiple disciplines, including mechanics, electronics, signal processing, and computer science, and is a typical product of the integration of various high-tech fields. The sensor is installed in the oil circuit of the lubrication system. By continuously monitoring the accumulation of metal particles—including their quantity and size—in the power transmission system, it analyzes the system’s health status, enabling proactive maintenance measures to ensure reliable operation.
This sensor utilizes the principle of electromagnetic induction to detect the number of metal particles in the lubrication system, serving as a basis for determining the extent of damage to bearings or gearboxes. The sensor must be installed upstream of the filter, at the lowest point of the return oil line. Each time a metal particle is detected, the sensor automatically increments the particle count and periodically sends the total number of particles detected during that time period to the host computer.
Application Areas
Lubricating oil is the “lifeblood” of major equipment. Lubricant failure directly leads to abnormal wear of mechanical structures and critical functional components, serving as the primary cause of large-scale equipment failures and catastrophic accidents. The GS-TH provides 24/7 uninterrupted monitoring of wear levels in the oil circuit, providing real-time feedback on the oil’s condition. It helps users prevent or mitigate equipment failures caused by lubricant failure.
The GS-TH is widely applicable across industries such as power generation, mining, cement, shipping, defense, industrial manufacturing, papermaking, petrochemicals, transportation, metallurgy, aviation, oil fields, and ports. Specific applications include wind turbine gearboxes, aircraft/helicopter gearboxes, hydraulic transmission systems, machining centers, steam turbines, gearboxes, and gasoline/diesel engines.
